I wrote this song to reflect seasons in my life where it felt as though I had put myself in situations that caused me to stray from the Lord as my Shepherd.

It’s a very simple song — a simple prayer put to melody. A prayer for the Lord to rescue me from the mess I’ve gotten myself into.

One way or another, I think we can all find ourselves in these situations. We mess up, we do something wrong, and we begin to drift. It may not happen all at once; sometimes it’s gradual.

But the important thing is that we have the Great Shepherd who, when He sees that we’ve gone astray, responds to a surrendered heart crying out for mercy and rescue. He won’t waste a second journeying toward you and bringing you home where you belong.
